Community Event Grant

Purpose:

The Community Event Grant was established to provide support for events, gatherings, or activities held in Woodbury County that are open to the public, draw people together, and builds community bonds. Grants are awarded annually on the basis of merit as determined by the Grant Review Committee and ratified by the MRHD Board of Directors.

Grant funds may be used to develop, market, and implement new or existing events that improve the quality of life for Woodbury County residents and have the potential to attract visitors to the community or enhance a participant’s experience.

Eligible events must be open to the public and provide general admission for free or charge a nominal fee, and they must align with at least one of MRHD’s grant focus areas:

Match: No match is required for this grant.

Maximum Award: Up to $10,000 per award. Grants are paid upfront at the Awards Ceremony.

Available Funding: In total, $50,000 is available for this grant cycle.

Geographic Funding Area: Counties of Woodbury, Cherokee, Crawford, Ida, Monona, and Plymouth in Iowa, Union County in South Dakota, and Dakota County in Nebraska.

Time to Complete: 12-months from award date.

Eligibility for Other Grants: Grant recipients may not apply for another Community Event Grant until the current grant has been completed. However, grant recipients may have other active MRHD grants. Grant recipients may apply for other MRHD grants if they meet the eligibility requirements for the respective grant.
